4. BRAZILIAN Detachment / Détachement BRESILIEN

12. I cannot find
much
information
about the
Brazilian
involvement.
Very few
commercial
covers have been recorded. Fig 12 shows a registered cover from Wilson Costa in Elisabethville to his
wife. There is a Brazilian arrival datestamp on the reverse. This was posted via the Katanga postal service
using Katanga stamps. The postage rate was 26 Fr including 6 Fr registration fee.

Une lettre émanant du détachement brésilien est illustrée à la Fig. 12. Je ne trouve pas beaucoup
d'informations sur l'implication brésilienne. Très peu de lettres commerciales ont été recensées. La Fig. 12
montre une lettre recommandée de Wilson Costa à Elisabethville à destination de sa femme. Il y a un
dateur d'arrivée brésilien au verso. Elle a été postée via le service postal du Katanga en utilisant des
timbres katangais. Le tarif postal était de 26 Fr incluant 6 Fr de frais de recommandation.

5. CANADIAN Contingent / Contingent CANADIEN

The contingent arrived in August 1960. This consisted of Canadian Air Force Transport squadrons. They
transported supplies for the ONUC forces. This contingent used three different postal systems to send out
their mail.

Le contingent est arrivé en août 1960. Il s'agissait d'escadrons de transport de la Force Aérienne
Canadienne. Ils ont transporté des fournitures pour les forces de l'ONUC. Ce contingent a utilisé trois
systèmes postaux différents pour envoyer son courrier.
