Le 30 juin 1910 l’Enclave de Lado est officiellement remise aux Britanniques.

5.1 - Griffe « EXPEDITION du NIL – KERO – CONGO BELGE »

Deux avis existent sur cette griffe/surcharge noire. Certains l’estiment fausse, d’autres ont un avis plus
réservé. On connait cette griffe sur entier postal mais l’exemple connu n’a pas de marque de transit. Je ne
vais pas recopier ici ces avis. Je vous invite donc à consulter l’ouvrage de J. Du Four « Congo Cinquante
ans d’histoire postale » page 472, ainsi que celui de P. Maselis « Histoire postale de l’Enclave de Lado »
page 163.

There are two opinions about this black linear mark/overprint. Some consider it false, others have a more
reserved opinion. We know this mark on postal stationery but the known example has no transit mark. I
will not copy here these opinions. I invite you to consult the book of J. Du Four "Congo Fifty years of
postal history" page 472, as well as that of P. Maselis "Postal history of the Enclave of Lado" page 163.

Fausse Retta composée de 121 points, accompagnée d’une fausse annulation manuscrite en rouge « Lado
le 30/12/1903 » (date impossible car le bureau de contrôle de Lado n’est pas ouvert à cette époque).
Timbre accompagné au verso de la signature de Nysten.

False Retta composed of 121 points, accompanied by a false cancellation handwritten in red "Lado le
30/12/1903" (impossible date because the control office of Lado is not open at this time). Stamp
accompanied on the back by the signature of Nysten.
