The May 30, 1941 Stanleyville cover to the USA (Figure 6) with a Gold Coast censor mark #8 and
Belgian Congo tape Aa has typed instructions “Via Takoradi.” This instruction indicates that this mail is
to be sent through the Gold Coast to Takoradi where is was loaded onto military aircraft to be flown to its
destination. I have three other Belgian Congo covers with Gold Coast censor mark #8 and “Via
Takoradi” instructions indicating that this was a known route for mail travel.
Lettre de Stanleyville du 30 mai 1941 expédiée vers les États-Unis (figure 6) avec une marque de censure
de Gold Coast # 8 et une bande Aa du Congo belge avec instruction de routing « Via Takoradi ». Cette
instruction indique que ce courrier doit avoir été envoyé via la Gold Coast à Takoradi où il a été chargé
sur un avion militaire pour être transporté à destination. Je possède trois autres lettres du Congo belge
avec la marque de censure Gold Coast # 8 et les instructions « Via Takoradi » indiquant que c'était une
route connue pour le transport postal.
