  * 05/27/2013 VHS "gals" spend summer 1965 learning Home Ec May 1965.
  * 05/20/2013 Mr. Flake profiled in the Davis County Clipper June 1965.
  * 05/13/2013 The VHS first senior-class-to-be went off to Summer break listening to the Beach Boy's #1 hit "Help Me Rhonda".
  * 05/06/2013 M.K. Fadel and Dave Pack chosen as VHS first track team captains in 1965.
  * 04/29/2013 Viewmont Girls Association holds fashion show and tea May 13th, 1965.

  * 04/22/2013 Sophomore Scott Parkin's last minute free throws help VHS score its first ever b-ball
     game win against Davis High February 1965.

  * 04/15/2013 "Revolutionary" classroom arrangements come to VHS in 1965.

  * 04/08/2013 Valley Music Hall (site of Class of '71 graduation exercises) nears completion in
     March 1965.


  * 04/01/2013 Viewmont Girls Association held its first tea May 13, 1965. The first VAG officers
     were Sherrie Mills, Peggy Brown and Susan Carr.


  * 03/25/2013 The first ever Sophomore dance was held in April of 1965. The dance's theme was
     "Once Upon a Time."


  * 03/18/2013 A candy fund raiser was held in March of 1965 to help fund uniforms for the Pep Band.

  * 03/11/2013 "Dear Heart" was the theme of the FHA's very first dance in 1965. The first FHA Officers
     were Mary Kay Wampler, Kaylana Kershaw and Chris Croft.


  * 03/04/2013 Viewmont's first ever Freshman basketball team went undeafeated in 1965.

  * 02/25/2013 On January 19, 1965, Viewmont's varsity basketball team fell to the West High
     Panthers' varsity team by a score of 83-58.


  * 02/18/2013 Viewmont's freshmen beat Bountiful's freshmen in basketball by a score of 48-42 on
     January 8, 1965. Woohoo! The start of a trend!


  * 02/11/2013 Viewmont's first Honor Society was formed in January of 1965 and elected its first
     officers. Miss Streeper and Mr. Rose were the faculty advisors.


  * 02/04/2013 Viewmont's first ever basketball game with rival Bountiful High in mid-January 1965 was
     a 74-67 come from behind homecourt win for BHS.


  * 01/28/2013 Construction on Viewmont's auditorium and music rooms addition began April 1965
    at a cost of $1 million (about $7 million today).


  * 01/21/2013 Viewmont was dedicated February 10, 1965 by Irvin Cleverly six months after opening.

  * 01/14/2013 Bratten's Cove Restaurant officially opened for business at 1385 S 500 W in July 1965.

  * 01/07/2013 Viewmont opened in 1964 with no auditorium. The auditorium was added and officially
    opened for commencement exercises in May 1966.


  * 12/31/2012 Viewmont's first ever cheerleaders were Carlyn Conder, Peggy Prescott, Jessica
     Barber, Nancy Kamerath, and Linda Brown.


  * 12/24/2012 Viewmont hosted its first ever basketball game on November 28, 1964.

  * 12/17/2012 The Cottage Ice Cream store on Main Street and 400 North in Bountiful opened in
     March 1964.


  * 12/10/2012 Viewmont was officially named February 19, 1964 by the Davis Board of Ed.  20
     names were considered.


  * 12/03/2012 Mr. Lewis ("The Beet") left Bountiful High in 1964 to become Head Football Coach
     at Viewmont.


  * 11/26/2012 Viewmont High School cost $1.6 million dollars to build in 1964 (about $11.8 million
     dollars in 2012).


  * 11/19/2012 With a Varsity football team composed of only Juniors and Sophomores, Viewmont's first
     (1964) football season saw no VHS wins.


  * 11/12/2012 Viewmont opened in August 31, 1964 with students in grades 9-11. Its first "Varsity
     Class" was composed, entirely, of Juniors.


  * 11/05/2012 Viewmont's School Song's lyrics were written to the tune of "Hail Pennsylvania" by
     Marsha Limburg in 1964.

  * 10/29/2012 Viewmont's Alma Mater (words and music) was written by JeNean Anderson in 1964.

  * 10/22/2012 Viewmont's first Vice-principal was Gayle Stevenson not Mr. ("the Beet") Lewis.

  * 10/15/2012 Viewmont's first Studentbody Officers (1964-65) were Lon Secrist (President),
     Marleen Eggett (Vice-president), and Chris Bernard (Secretary).


  * 10/08/2012 Construction began on Viewmont High School in April 1963. Viewmont was known as
     North Bountiful High School at that time.


  * 10/01/2012 Mr. Flake left the vice-principal postion at South Davis Junior High to become
     Viewmont's first principal.

  * 09/24/2012 Viewmont High School opened its doors to its first students Monday, August 31, 1964.
