7. Photographing the Ganga Aarti. This is a spectacular event
and most sought after hence all heads and boats turn in this direc-
tion in the evening. If you want to be in good position to take good
shots, you must place yourself here at least hour and a half before
the scheduled time. The Aarti usually starts at sunset. Avoid being
in a boat as you will not be able to change your position. As most of
the photography is going be in very low light it is recommended to
use a fast lens. You will have to shoot in manual mode. The follow-
ing settings are recommended. ISO 640, f 3.2, 1/30 secs. Adjust the
settings as required but ensure that your shutter speed remains at
least at 1/30 ses. You may to increase the ISO accordingly.

Photographing at Varanasi is a unique experience, make the best
of it.
