Exodus 24

The LORD Calls Moses to Come to Him

(1) Then he said to Moses, "Come up to the LORD, you, and Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and 70 of the elders of Israel, and YOU worship afar off."

(2) Moses alone shall come near the LORD, but they shall not come near; neither shall the people go up with him.

(3) And Moses came and told the people all the words of the LORD, and all the judgments; and all the people answered with one voice, and said, "All the words which the LORD has said, we will do."

Moses Builds an Altar, and 12 Pillars.

(4) So Moses wrote all the words of the LORD, and rose up early in the morning, and built an altar under the mountain, and 12 pillars, according to the 12 tribes of Israel.

(5) He sent young men of the children of Israel, who offered burnt offerings, and sacrificed peace offerings of oxen to the LORD.

(6) Moses took half of the blood, and put it in basons, and half of the blood he sprinkled on the altar.

(7) Then he took the book of the covenant, and read it in the audience of the people; and they said, "All that the LORD has said, we will do, and be obedient."

(8) And Moses took the blood, and sprinkled it on the people, and said, "Behold the blood of the covenant, which the LORD has made with you concerning all these words."

The Glory of God Appears

(9) Then Moses, Aaron, Nadab, Abihu, and 70 of the elders of Israel went up,

(10) and they saw the God of Israel; and there was under his feet as it were a paved work of sapphire stone, and as it was as the body of heaven in its clearness.

(11) He did not lay his hand on the nobles of the children of Israel; and they saw God, and ate and drank.

(12) The LORD said to Moses, "Come up to me on the mountain, and stay there; and I will give you tablets of stone, and the law, and commandments which I have written; that you may teach them."

(13) So Moses and his minister Joshua rose up; and Moses went up on the mountain of God.

(14) And he said to the elders, "YOU remain here and wait for us, until we come back to you; and, behold, Aaron and Hur are with you; if any man have any matters to be heard, let him go to them."

(15) Then Moses went up on the mountain, and a cloud covered the mountain.

(16) The glory of the LORD settled on mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it six days; and the seventh day he called to Moses out of the midst of the cloud.

(17) The sight of the glory of the LORD was like a devouring fire on the top of the mountain in the eyes of the children of Israel.

Moses Is Gone For 40 days and 40 nights

(18) Moses went into the midst of the cloud, and went up on the mountain; and Moses was on the mountain 40 days and 40 nights.
