The same applied to civilian intern-
ment camps. The token shown
here comes from the prisoner of
war camp (POW) assigned to the
port of Saint Nazaire. (img 7, 8)
A unique catalogue was produced
by Roland Elie before his death in
2008. Its 335 pages provide an in-
ventory of these tokens, classified
by type and regiment. These are re-

presented in the form of rubbings.
Available on the Delcampe website,
it provides insight into how these
regiments operated day-to-day,
and is the only document that pro-
vides a regional perspective on this
unique and original numismatic ac-
tivity.
ACJM (acjm@orange.fr), the book’s
publisher, are always interested in
the discovery or identification of
«military» tokens that have not yet
been recorded.
