Foreword
About 3000 years old, Varanasi also known as Kashi or Benares is
considered as abode of Shiva and Parvathi, one of the Hindu Gods
and Goddess.
The holy city of Varanasi is the oldest living city in the world and Is
known as the centre for spirituality, culture and education. It is also
famous for its lip smacking cuisines, Zari work Sarees and Paan.
This is what Mark Twain had to say about this city:
“Older than history, older than tradition, older even than legend,
and looks twice as old as all of them put together “
- Mark Twain
The soul of Varanasi lies in its Ghats (River Front). There is some-
thing magical about these Ghats. Morning walks along the river
bank or a cruise in the Ganga is divinity itself.
This Photo Essay is an endeavour to take you on a visual tour of the
Ganga Ghats of Varanasi.
