The map below shows the general area which is open to the tourists. Only 20 % of the to-

tal area of the forest is open the tourists. To control the number of vehicles the area open to

tourist is divided in ten zones . I found zone 2,3 and 4 to be scenic and interesting and since

they are in close vicinity of the lakes, there is more chance of spotting the tigers in these

zones.

This afternoon our safari was allotted zone 4 and within ten minutes of our entering the re-

serve, we spotted a tigress and headed towards her. By the time we were in close proximity

she had sat down behind a tree and stared at us as we got closer.
