About the island

The Andaman Islands are an Indian archipelago in the Bay of Bengal. These

roughly 300 islands are known for their palm-lined, white-sand beaches, man-

groves and tropical rainforests. Coral reefs supporting marine life such as sharks

and rays make for popular diving and snorkeling sites. Indigenous Andaman

Islanders inhabit the more remote islands, many of which are off limits to visitors.

I had the opportunity to visit this place in January 2017. We arrived Port blair on

13th Jan 2017 by Jetairways Flight.

Port Blair Airport is served by regular flights from Chennai and Kolkata. Port

Blair resembles any old coastal towns in India. Majority of the population is

from West Benagal, Odisha and Tamilnadu. The local dialect is Hindi. We drove

along the palm lined beaches to the place we were staying. We had arrived late

in the afternoon. I had done some home work before coming here so without

wasteing any time we headed for the Chirya Tapu Beach to view the sunset. We

just made it in time, It was an amazing sight.
