Mark 3

Christ Heals Man on the Sabbath

(1) He entered again into the synagogue, and a man was there who had a withered hand.

(2) And they watched him, to see whether he would heal him on the sabbath day, so that they might accuse him.

(3) So he said to the man who had the withered hand, "Stand here among us."

(4) And he said to them, "Is it lawful to do good on the sabbath day, or to do evil, to save life, or to kill?" But they held their peace.

(5) Then he looked around at them with anger, being grieved by the hardness of their hearts, and he said to the man, "Stretch out your hand." And he stretched it out, and his hand was restored whole as the other.

(6) And the Pharisees went forth, and immediately took counsel with the Herodians against him, on how they might destroy him.

Jesus Withdraws Himself

(7) But Jesus withdrew himself with his disciples to the sea; and a great multitude from Galilee followed him, and from Judaea,

(8) and from Jerusalem, and from Idumaea, and from beyond Jordan, and those around Tyre and Sidon; a great multitude came to him when they heard what great things he did.

(9) He told his disciples, that a small ship should wait on him because of the multitude, lest they should press hard on him.

Crowd Presses on Jesus to Touch Him

(10) For he had healed many, so those that had plagues pressed on him to touch him.

(11) And when the unclean spirits saw him, they fell down before him, and cried, saying, "You are the Son of God."

(12) He repeatedly warned them that they should not make him known.

Jesus Chooses His Twelve Apostles

(13) Then he went up on a mountain, and called to him those whom he desired; and they came to him.

(14) He ordained 12, that they might be with him, and that he might send them out to preach,

(15) and to have power to heal sicknesses, and to cast out devils.

(16) Simon he gave the name Peter;

(17) James the son of Zebedee, and John the brother of James, and he surnamed them Boanerges, which is, "The sons of thunder";

(18) Andrew, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James the son of Alphaeus, Thaddaeus, Simon the Canaanite,

(19) and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him; and they went into a house.

A House Divided Cannot Stand

(20) The multitude came together again, so they could not even eat bread.

(21) And when his friends heard it, they went out to lay hold of him, for they said, "He is out of his mind."

(22) The scribes who came down from Jerusalem said, "He has Beelzebub, and by the ruler of the devils he casts out devils."

(23) And he called them to come to him, and said to them in parables, "How can Satan cast out Satan?

(24) If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.

(25) And if a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand.

(26) If Satan rises up against himself, and is divided, he cannot stand, but has come to an end.

(27) No man can enter into a strong man’s house, and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man; then he will plunder his house.

Blaspheme Against the Holy Ghost is the Unpardonable Sin

(28) Truly, I say to YOU, All sins shall be forgiven the sons of men, and blasphemies that they shall blaspheme;

(29) But he who blasphemes against the Holy Ghost never has forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation;"

(30) Because they said, "He has an unclean spirit."

Jesus' Mother, Brothers and Sisters

(31) Then came his brothers and his mother, and, standing outside, they sent to him, calling him.

(32) And the multitude sat around him, and they said to him, "Behold, your mother and your brothers are outside looking for you."

(33) He answered them, saying, "Who is my mother, or who are my brothers?"

(34) And he looked around at those who sat around him, and said, "Behold my mother and my brothers!

(35) For whoever shall do the will of God, the same is my brother, and my sister, and mother."
