Tabernacle Set Up
(1) Then the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying,
(2) "On the first day of the first month you shall set up the tabernacle of the tent of the congregation.
(3) And you shall put in it the ark of the testimony, and cover the ark with the veil.
(4) You shall bring in the table, and set in order the things that are on it; and you shall bring in the candlestick, and light its lamps.
(5) And you shall set the altar of gold for the incense before the ark of the testimony, and put the covering of the door to the tabernacle.
(6) You shall set the altar of the burnt offering before the door of the tabernacle of the tent of the congregation.
(7) And you shall set the basin between the tent of the congregation and the altar, and shall put water in it.
(8) You shall set up the court around it, and hang up the covering at the court gate.
(9) And you shall take the anointing oil, and anoint the tabernacle, and all that is in it, and shall hallow it, and all the vessels of it, and it shall be holy.
(10) You shall anoint the altar of the burnt offering, and all its vessels, and sanctify the altar, and it shall be an altar that is most holy.
(11) And you shall anoint the basin and its base, and sanctify it.
(12) Then you shall bring Aaron and his sons to the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, and wash them with water.
Aaron and His Sons to be Sanctified.
(13) You shall put the holy garments on Aaron, and anoint him, and sanctify him, that he may minister to me in the priest’s office.
(14) And you shall bring his sons, and clothe them with coats.
(15) You shall anoint them, as you anointed their father, that they may minister to me in the priest’s office; for their anointing shall surely be an everlasting priesthood throughout their generations."
Moses Does as Commanded
(16) Thus Moses did according to all that the LORD commanded him, so he did.
(17) It came to pass in the first month in the second year, on the first day of the month, that the tabernacle was raised up.
(18) And Moses raised up the tabernacle, and fastened its sockets, and set up its boards, and put in its bars, and raised up its pillars.
(19) He spread the tent over the tabernacle, and put the covering of the tent on it from above, as the LORD commanded Moses.
(20) And he took the testimony and put it into the ark, and set the poles in the rings on the ark, and put the mercy seat above on the ark.
(21) He brought the ark into the tabernacle, and set up the veil of the covering, and covered the ark of the testimony, as the LORD commanded Moses.
(22) And he put the table in the tent of the congregation, on the northward side of the tabernacle, outside the veil.
(23) He set the bread in order on it before the LORD, as the LORD had commanded Moses.
(24) And he put the candlestick in the tent of the congregation, opposite the table, on the southward side of the tabernacle.
(25) He lit the lamps before the LORD, as the LORD commanded Moses.
(26) He put the golden altar in the tent of the congregation in front of the veil.
(27) And he burned sweet incense on it, as the LORD commanded Moses.
(28) He set up the covering at the door of the tabernacle.
(29) And he put the altar of burnt offering by the door of the tabernacle of the tent of the congregation, and offered on it the burnt offering and the grain offering, as the LORD commanded Moses.
(30) He set the basin between the tent of the congregation and the altar, and put water there to wash with.
(31) Moses and Aaron and his sons washed their hands and their feet there.
(32) When they went into the tent of the congregation, and when they came near the altar, they washed, as the LORD commanded Moses.
(33) And he raised up the court around the tabernacle and the altar, and set up the covering of the court gate. So Moses finished the work.
The Glory of the Lord Filled the Tabernacle
34 Then a cloud covered the tent of the congregation, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle.
(35) And Moses was not able to enter into the tent of the congregation, because the cloud settled on it, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle.
(36) When the cloud was taken up from over the tabernacle, the children of Israel would set out on all their journeys.
(37) But if the cloud was not taken up, then they did not journey until the day that it was taken up.
38 For the cloud of the LORD was upon the tabernacle by day, and fire was on it by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel, throughout all their journeys.
