Genesis 23:1

KJV:1 And Sarah was an hundred and seven and twenty years old : these were the years of the life of Sarah.

Genesis 23:2

KJV:2 And Sarah died in Kirjatharba ; the same is Hebron in the land of Canaan : and Abraham came to mourn for Sarah, and to weep for her.

Genesis 23:4

KJV:4 I am a stranger and a sojourner with you : give me a possession of a buryingplace with you, that I may bury my dead out of my sight.

Notes:

  • __ "Give" highlighted in the KJV verse is Strong’s H5414 with a Brown-Driver-Briggs' definition of "with בְּ, give for (ב) money = sell." This is the same word used in Genesis 23:9 below which was updated to "Sell." Since there is no mention of money here, I left it as "Give" although Abraham’s intentions was probably to buy for a price all along.

  • "Sojourner" highlighted in the KJV verse is Strong’s H8453 with a Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance definition of "manner -|- Or toshab (1 Kings 17:1) {to-shawb'}; from yashab; a dweller (but not outlandish (nokriy)); especially (as distinguished from a native citizen (active participle of yashab) and a temporary inmate (ger) or mere lodger (luwn)) resident alien — foreigner, inhabitant, sojourner, stranger.."

  • "With" highlighted in the KJV verse is Strong’s H5973 with a Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance definition of "accompanying, against, and, as long as, before, beside, by reason of, for all, -|- From amam; adverb or preposition, with (i.e. In conjunction with), in varied applications; specifically, equally with; often with prepositional prefix (and then usually unrepresented in English) — accompanying, against, and, as (X long as), before, beside, by (reason of), for all, from (among, between), in, like, more than, of, (un-)to, with(-al)."

  • "Possession" highlighted in the KJV verse is Strong’s H272 with a Brown-Driver-Briggs' definition of "possession, P & late; of landed property."

Genesis 23:9

Genesis 23:11

KJV:11 Nay, my lord, hear me : the field give I thee, and the cave that is therein, I give it thee; in the presence of the sons of my people give I it thee: bury thy dead.

Genesis 23:13

Genesis 23:15

Genesis 23:16

KJV:16 And Abraham hearkened unto Ephron ; and Abraham weighed to Ephron the silver, which he had named in the audience of the sons of Heth, four hundred shekels of silver, current money with the merchant.
