Note: Considered "flying creature(s)" (Strongs 5775) and "bird(s)." Chose "bird(s)" since "flying creatures" would include insects. In modern English the word "fowl" is associated with chickens. The KJV Dictionary (Smith’s Bible Dictionary portion) offers this information on fowl, "Several distinct Hebrew and Greek words are thus rendered in the English Bible [as fowl]. Of these the most common is 'oph , which is usually a collective term for all kinds of birds."
This was not always so. In the "Webster’s 1828 Dictionary" portion of the above link, the dictionary’s editor laments the fact that "birds" was usurping the definition of "fowl." "Bird is a young fowl or chicken, and may well be applied to the smaller species of fowls. But it has usurped the place of fowl and is used improperly as the generic term."

"Replenish" highlighted in the KJV verse is Strong’s H4390 with a Strong’s definition of "to be full, to fill." Some groups believe "replinish" means the earth was formerly inhabited and that Adam and Eve’s descendants would replace an original, extinct race of humans, which is not true. In 1611, the English meaning (now archaic) of replenish was “to supply fully.” The re- does not mean “again,” as we might think. In this case, it is an intensive prefix; that is, it adds a sense of urgency to the verb.
Genesis 1:29
KJV: 29 And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed , which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree , in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.
KJVu: 29 And God said, "Behold, I have given YOU every herb bearing seed upon the face of all the earth, and every tree in which the fruit has seeds. They shall be food for YOU.

Note: Opted to use "food" in place of "meat." In addition to Strongs H402 see also:
Meat
It does not appear that the word "meat" is used in any one instance in the Authorized Version of either the Old or New Testament in the sense which it now almost exclusively bears of animal food. The latter is denoted uniformly by "flesh." The word "meat," when our English version was made, meant food in general; or if any particular kind was designated, it referred to meal, flour or grain. The only real and inconvenient ambiguity caused by the change which has taken place in the meaning of the word is in the case of the "meat offering."
MEAT, n.
1. Food in general; anything eaten for nourishment, either by man or beast.
Genesis 1:30
KJV: 30 And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.
KJVu: 30 And to every beast of the earth, and to every bird of the air, and to everything that creeps upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for food;" and it was so.
