When your selection of available models is limited, there is always one who will volunteer to step in front of the lens. Moi.
My livingroom doubles as my studio. It can be cramped and a bit "challenging" to rearrange furniture to open an area for lights, background and subject.
Here you can see a standard 3 light arrangement. Two lights (Godox AD200) in front to the left and right of where the model will stand. The two lights are modified with umbrellas that have a translucent material attached. These are "poor man's" softboxes that will produce a failry even, soft light.
At the left edge of the backdrop there is a speedlight modified with a MagMod Sphere to act as a "kicker" and add a bit of highlighting from behind the model. Lastly, there is a 3ft reflector at the base of the rightmost tripod. This is being used to bounce a bit of light to the model's legs.
Here the studio photo is reduced to a diagram of the lighting setup:
My starting image was relatively well exposed; the lighting did what I wanted :)
In post process, I cleaned up and extended the backdrop. A book label was created and composited onto the book. And finally, some bit of dodging and burning to add dimension. et, voilĂ !
