Grandma was born in Backworth and on the 1891 Census is living with her mum and dad (James and Jane(nee Armstrong)) at 104 Havelock Place, Backworth. Her father James was a Coal Inspector. Grandma's sisters and a brother are also mentioned. Grandma is the youngest. Sisters are Mary I.(Isobel?), Margaret J.(Jane?) and Elizabeth. Brother is John. I have been told he was known as Jack and that he moved to work in the mines in South Africa c. 1907 when a lot of men(and families) emigrated from our area. As far as I know he never married but did stay over there. Again I need help with filling in the gaps in what I know about Grandma's siblings. Grandma always went regularly to the Methodist Chapel in Backworth but I don't think Granda went. Grandma's dad was a Chapel Steward.
