Mon Jan 14: Heavy rains morning & eve and all last night. In town all day. No trains from Anacortes yet & none expected for a week. High tide and Samish & Swinomish flats getting salted every day. With a good prospect of loosing the crop of 1918.
Tue Jan 15: No rain. Went to Mount Vernon via Bellingham and staid all night. County business.
Wed Jan 16: Light rain in the P.M. In Mt. Vernon. Went with Tom McNeal to see the big break in Skagit River break below the Poor Farm. It is a "fright". Came home via Avon, Whitney & Freight train.
Thu Jan 17: Another Chinook wind. Temp 54. Showery. At home & in town. Mrs Stacey came.
Fri Jan 18: Ida no better. Miss Enger left this A.M. Home all say. Pleasant. Heard there was nothing doing to fix dike.
Sat Jan 19:[margin: Telegraph Slough Bridge being fixed today. Trains going again.] Went to Whitney & the Ranch. Saw the breaks in the dikes and consider the situation very discouraging indeed. Otto Kalso has two very bad breaks to fix yet and water has been on 20 days now. Samish situation bad also.
Sun Jan 20: Temp 36° Pleasant. Went to Baptist Sunday school. Dr Waddell here yesterday and to day. Went to the Presbyterian church in the eve.
Mon Jan 21: Clowdy. In town all day. Took the car down and had new clutch bands put on cork inserts. Down town in the eve to see Reitz about pavement. Ida sat up a while to day.
Tue Jan 22: Raon most of last night & some to day. In town all day. Called on Bessner. Ida down stairs awhile. Telegraph slough bridge passable to day, but water still over from Edison to LaConner.
Wed Jan 23: Stormy. Went to the Ranch & Whitney. Ball's & Callahan's break shut up. Ida about the same. Otto finished his break north of the railroad.
Thu Jan 24: Rain most all day. In town all day. Ida not so well.
Fri Jan 25: Went to LaConner & to Mt Vernon in the eve and staid all night in Mt Vernon.
Sat Jan 26: Rain in the eve. In Mt. Vernon all day. Samish dike meeting. No dikes repaired yet except Kalso's & Balls & Callahans. Otto has one to fix yet.

Fri Aug 23: Pleasant. Went to the Ranch and helped Grant cut oats with the tractor. It worked all right.

Fri Aug 30: Beautiful day. In town all day. McGinnis's & Carpenter's came from Seattle.
Sat Aug 31: Another fine day. Went with the folks to LaC. & Burlington & home in the eve. Two loads of wood came. All spruce. The past week all fine for harvesting and it is well done up except the Olympia M & Samish.

Fri Sep 13: Butler, Welts & Costello defeated in the primary election also Rudene. Pleasant. Went to Frank Whites for Blackberries. Mrs Kash & children also. In the P.M. went to see Mr Carney to get him to build foundation wall to bedroom & bot lime & sand. Went to war chest meeting in the eve.

Fri Sep 20:[margin: Dry weather.] Went to B. View with Grant & home in the eve. Brot Lovel up this eve to make out a bill of lumber for bedroom. Ida staid at the farm. Most machine through threshing. John's folks threshing to day.

Mon Sep 30: Heavy rain last night. Carpenters here. 4 all day. Took out the windows & put in the new ones and the door to the bedroom. Clowdy but no rain to day. Thus endeth the finest September on record.

Tue Oct 01: Working on house till 3 P.M. Men about 15 hours. Carney working at chimney in the P.M. Self took Ida & Nettie to see Mrs Bradley & home at 6.30. Mrs B. poorly with a cancer. Pleasant but quite foggy most of the day.
Wed Oct 02: No rain. Foggy. Working at the bedroom helping Moore. The wire man (Miller) here to day. Went to meeting in the eve.

Thu Jan 09: Temp 32. Ida has sore arm from a burn. Home in the A.M. went to Dewey and Gravel Pit in the P.M. county business.
Fri Jan 10: Light rain. Went to Dewey with powder & back in the lake road. In the P.M. went to Mt Vernon with Frank.
Sat Jan 11: Light rain. At home and down town. Nothing special.
Sun Jan 12: Cold raw wind. Went to Ch & S.S. in the A.M.
Mon Jan 13: Windy. Roads bad. Went to Mt Vernon. Coms meeting went with Frank. Lee Bradley also. New board organized.
