E.A. went east by himself. He left Padilla on September 13, 1916. During this trip he went to the Binghamton New York Fair. It was during this trip that he visited his cousin Christy Mathewson. He stopped at Aurora Illinois to visit Eva Reed.

  •  6Thu Sep 14: At Spokane this A.M. in Idaho & Montana today. Saw fine scenery.
  •  6Fri Sep 15: In Montana & Dakotas. Fine weather.
  •  6Sat Sep 16: In Minneapolis & St Paul & Wisconsin arrived in Chicago at 10.30 & put up at the Victoria Hotel.
  •  6Sun Sep 17: In Chicago till 2.30. Pleasant.
  •  6Mon Sep 18: Arrived in Buffalo this A.M. via Nickle Plate road. Took Lacka Road and arrived in Scranton 3.50 and in Factoryville at 5 P.M. Found the folks well. Raining.
  •  6Tue Sep 19: In and around F. & up to the new R.r. & over it to LaPlume.
  •  6Wed Sep 20: Went to Nicholson to see the new bridge. Concrete 2375 ft long 240 ft high also up to the Bunker Hill with Jim Lewis in the P.M. Fine day.
  •  6Thu Sep 21: Went to Geo Bailey's & with him to Factoryville & Clark's Summit in his Dodge car.

  •  6Fri Sep 22: In town and over to see Isaac Tillinghast.
  •  6Sat Sep 23: Thunder shower last night & to day. Took a walk with Isa & in the P.M. to the Contrary (Old Bethel) and over to the Dean Farm to Brookside & home on the Electric car. Cold wind.
  •  6Sun Sep 24: Went to church in the A.M. have a bad cold. Dr. Fitch's folks dined with the Sisson's.
  •  6Mon Sep 25: Reading "A Vision of Joy" and took a walk to the Tillinghast farm in the P.M.
  •  6Tue Sep 26: Frost - Down town in the A.M. & went to Fleetville with a Ford car in the P.M. Mother & Laura & others went also. Found the Greens very poorly.
  •  6Wed Sep 27: Cool but pleasant. Went to the Ackerly Fair & visited with Arthur Bailey.
  •  6Thu Sep 28: Went to the Binghamton New York Fair alone. Home at 8.30 P.M.
  •  6Fri Sep 29: Rainy day. Reading.
  •  6Sat Sep 30: Cold. Geo went to Tunkhannock. Self took a walk up in Benton past Uncle Pards old place. Was not admitted.
  •  6Sun Oct 01: Hard frost. Went to church in the A.M. & to Arthur Dean's to dinner with George. Saw Russell Dean's folks & Davis Russell.
  •  6Mon Oct 02: Went to Scranton to the Semi-Centennial Celebration.
  •  6Tue Oct 03: Went to New York. Saw bridges, &c. Put up at the "Broadway Central".
  •  6Wed Oct 04: In New & Jersey City to see W.S. Green. Found him at 3 P.M. Went with him through the subway & to the Woolworth building. Great sight.
  •  6Thu Oct 05: In New York till 10 A.M. In Scranton in the P.M. & home in the eve.
  •  6Fri Oct 06: In F. and over to see Seamans Silo then to Holgates to tea & the eve. fine weather all the week.
  •  6Sat Oct 07: In F. in the A.M. & took a walk over the new R.R. to Dalton in the P.M.
  •  6Sun Oct 08: Went to church A.M. & P.M.
  •  6Mon Oct 09: Rainy day. Reading.
  •  6Tue Oct 10: Went to the old farm & through the sugar bush. Saw Mr Jerrauld.

  •  6Thu Oct 12: Went with Mother & Laura to see Dora Phillips and in the P.M. with Geo Bailey's folks for a ride. Pleasant- went to Waverly & C. Summit.
  •  6Fri Oct 13: Rainy day. Reading.
  •  6Sat Oct 14: In town & took a walk.
  •  6Sun Oct 15: Went to Sunday school Exercises. Called on Elias Reynold in the P.M. A.D. Dean called & took supper.
  •  6Mon Oct 16: Went to Geo Bailey's with Mr Reynolds & in P.M. Call on Amy Capwell & Mrs Mary Jane Capwell.
  •  6Tue Oct 17: Went to Dalton in the P.M. Cold wind. Called on Mathewsons in the eve. Saw Christy & family.
  •  6Wed Oct 18: Went to Geo Baileys and in the P.M. with him for a long auto ride. Called on the Greens, Bill Shafer and Mr Farnum.

  •  6Thu Oct 19: At Geo Baileys last night and till 2 P.M. to day. Rainy day.
  •  6Fri Oct 20: At home in the A.M. took a walk to the tunnel & to Nicholson in the P.M. Cool.
  •  6Sat Oct 21: Colder. In the house most of the day reading.
  •  6Sun Oct 22: Went to Church A.M. & P.M.
  •  6Mon Oct 23: In F. till 4.40 started for home via Scranton. Took a sleeper in Scranton.
  •  6Tue Oct 24: Traveling through Ohio, Ind. & Ill. Arrived in Chicago & staid at the Victoria Hotel.
  •  6Wed Oct 25: Went to Eva Reeds. Arrived at 1 P.M.
  •  6Thu Oct 26: At Reed's and visited Lee Richards in the eve.

  •  6Fri Oct 27: 67 today. Went with Reeds to Aurora & started for Chicago. In Chicago till 10-30 - When I started for Seattle via Olympian. C.M. & S.P.R.R.
  •  6Sat Oct 28: In Minnesota most of the day.

  •  6Mon Oct 30: In Idaho & Wash. at Spokane. at 8 A.M. Arrived in Seattle at 8 P.M.
  •  6Tue Oct 31: Arrived in Anacortes 12.30
    Very pleasant trip.
