E.A. went east by himself. He left Padilla on March 28, 1910 and spent a couple of days in Seattle leaving Seattle on April 2nd. This trip he visited friends and relatives in California. From there he went through Arizona and New Mexico to El Paso Texas, then on to New Orleans. From there he went to Washington DC arriving on April 13th and did some sight seeing. Then he went to New York, did some sight seeing and went to the Barnum and Bailey Circus at Madison Square Garden. He arrived at Scranton on April 16th. On May 21 he attended George (his brother) 25th wedding anniversary. He bought a return ticket for Seattle for $64.50 on May 28th and left for home on June 1st, 1910. On his way home he visited Detroit and the auto factories and rode in a Hupmobile. He also stopped in Plattville, IL to visit the Reeds and left for Seattle on June 12th arriving in Seattle on June 15th.

Tue Dec 28: Temp 24°. Went with Grant to LaConner & to see the dredger at Denny's. The job will cost over $7000.00. The water is still over the Brown Slough Country and also the Alanson Dist. Nothing doing yet to repair dykes on the River.
Wed Dec 29: Temp 30°. Even temp & no wind. Grant, Fred & self & team took the piles out of the water for stringers across the break in the Ball line dyke and hauled them to the break.
Thu Dec 30: South wind and pretty high tide. Cut up the spruce boom stick for piles & wood. Went to Whitney at night.
Fri Dec 31: Grant & Fred after piles. Self went to the Inspector of Election at B.V. It went dry 36 - 64 = 100 votes. Snowing most of the day. Snow 4 in deep. Thus endeth 1909. Frost at 12 M. 26°.

Sat Apr 30:[margin: Fine days.] Frank took crowd to Bellingham. Left at 6.30 A.M. and returned 9 P.M. (Sun) Nettie and the Carters went along. Donald and I stayed with Nellie and Georgia all night.

Sun May 01:[margin: Ditto] Went to church and communion. First time I have been there since Feb 13th. After church went down to Mrs Paces and had dinner with them. Got card from E.A.
Mon May 02: Heard Mrs McKenna died this morning. Was up again? and Mrs Wallace. Mrs Wallace is very sick.
Tue May 03:[margin: Fine weather.] The only story of importance was the missionary meeting at Mrs Moore's - with repeat fixits - had a good meeting with $325 collection.
Wed May 04:[margin: Nice in morning but very windy wet night.] Grant came up in auto and took us all down home for dinner then in the P.M. to Bay View to Mrs McKenna's funeral. Was a very large one and such a wealth of flowers. Never saw so much dust. Came home 5.30.
Thu May 05:[margin: Fine day.] Had letter from E.A. telling about mothers birthday.
Fri May 06:[margin: Getting too dry.] Got a card from E.A. Went up to Aggies.
Sat May 07: The folks start at 6.30 A.M. for Bellingham again. Nettie went also. Donald and I keeping house, went down to Carters at night. Donald has a bad cold. Got letter from E.A.
Sun May 08:[margin: Pleasant with strong south wind.] Donald went to Sunday school. I stayed at home all day. Did not feel like going to Church. Went down for paper.
Mon May 09:[margin: Began raining at 6 P.M.& had fine rain all night.] Went over to Mrs Wallaces and spent most of the day there. She is very low. The day very warm and sultry.
Tue May 10:[margin: Pleasant.] Went up to Mrs Wallaces about light and stayed until she died which was at 11.45. Had a letter from E.A.

Thu May 19:[margin: Pleasant.] Grant came up this A.M. and Donald and I went home with him. Grant started to Seattle via Anacortes to see about his eyes.
Fri May 20:[margin: Fine weather.] At ranch all day, fussed around among the flowers in the A.M. Pearl, John & baby up for a little visit in P.M. Stayed to supper.
Sat May 21:[margin: Fine day & beautiful nights.] Spent the day at ranch. Johnson working on dyke. Johns birthday.
Sun May 22: Spent the day reaching? and walking about the place. Frank & Nettie in Bell.
Mon May 23:[margin: Grand weather.] Grant came home in the P.M. and we all came up to LaConner after supper. Saw the eclipse and the comet. Halleys - 75 year one.
Tue May 24:[margin: Began raining at noon. Hard wind.] Nettie washed. Frank cleaning up the yard, etc. I went to cottage prayer meeting at Mrs Moores. Bob Woodburns house burned to day.
Wed May 25: Rainy most of the day. Nettie went to Aux. I stayed at home.
Thu May 26: Cold and windy in the morning but pleasant in the P.M. Nettie and Frank went to prayer meeting. The Wilson's went to Bellingham.

Tue Nov 22: Went with Frank to Dagualla bay. Windy & rainy. Skagit high. Got 1/2 cord bark.
Wed Nov 23: West wind, no rain. Went to Dugualla bay again to move logs. Back at noon.
Thu Nov 24: Frost, clear & pleasant. Went to Thanksgiving sermon by Bro Pace in the M.E. church. Frank went to Mt Vernon.
Fri Nov 25:[margin: Frost.] Packing up some & in the P.M. went with Frank to Cornett Bay with Iverson's wood sawing machine. Got home at 8 P.M.
Sat Nov 26:[margin: Frost.] Packing up & in the P.M. Frank took us to Padilla. Pleasant day.
Sun Nov 27:[margin: Clowdy light rain.] At Padilla & in the P.M. went to Bay View to the Odd Fellows Thanksgiving service. Mr Harris preached.
Mon Nov 28:[margin: Pleasant day.] Self went to Anacortes. Grant load a car of hay for Ball & Dunlap.
Tue Nov 29:[margin: Pleasant.] Self packing & boxing goods for Anacortes. Helped load the scow with lumber & mud for the dyke down towards Bay View.
Wed Nov 30: Pleasant but rain some last night. Grant, self & Andrew & Fred working on the dike in the A.M. down towards Bay View. Mrs Howe & son here this P.M. Grant went after a drum of naphtha to Whitney station.

Thu Dec 01: Stormy, light rain & wind. Went with Grant & Andrew to got a scow load of wood. Gave an order for "Messages & Papers of the President". Dredger at Wilson's for his oats.
Fri Dec 02:[margin: Temp 51°] Rainy, light rains. Packing up. Frank came down with the Dutchess and the boys all went to the party at Crumrines.
Sat Dec 03: Rainy day. A letter from Geo. Frank moved us to Anacortes. Grant & Schmidt went along. Got to the house before noon. Had good luck.
Sun Dec 04: No rain but clowdy. At home till 1.30. Took dinner with Lee & Jessie & staid till 5.30. Reading in the eve.
Mon Dec 05: At home fixing up, unpacking, &c. Was down town twice. With Ida in the P.M. Rainy last night & to day.
Tue Dec 06: Rain hard last night & some to day. Put up the stove. Was down town twice. Got wheel fixed. Bot an axe & wood basket, a can of oil, &c, &c.
Wed Dec 07: Got 2 loads of wood. Stormy. Got up, washed, eat, went to bed.
Thu Dec 08: Stormy. Heavy rain last night. Took a walk in the P.M. reading, wrote to Geo. Phoned to Pearl heard of Ada Walters sickness.
Fri Dec 09: Ada Walter died this A.M. Pleasant day. Was choring & down town with Ida.
Sat Dec 10: Frost. Pleasant. Arrived in LaC 38 years ago to day. Ida started for B but heard of Ada Walter's death. So we went to Samish & to Pearl's this P.M.
Sun Dec 11: Frost. At Samish. Went to Ada Walters funeral. Large turnout. At Wilsons the rest of the day.
Mon Dec 12:[margin: Pleasant] Went to Bellingham via Bow & came to Anacortes this eve. Ida staid in Bellingham to night. Bot a desk Bookcase. "Sectional"
Tue Dec 13:[margin: Foggy] Self at home long enough to get something to eat and down town more or less. Ida came from B. at 6 P.M.
Wed Dec 14:[margin: Foggy] Working on the alley grading and burning out roots. Seemer came and changed stoves this P.M. Wrote letters to I.F. Till and J.G. McGinnis.
Thu Dec 15: Rainy day. Not doing much, just ????? & washing.
Fri Dec 16: Rainy day. Made a step ladder and set up the desk & book case. Saw Bessner.
Sat Dec 17: No rain to day but clowdy. Grant here & Frank in town. Mrs Whitney called this P.M.
Sun Dec 18: Pleasant day. Self went to B. church. We went calling at Bradley's and Mrs B & sister & company called here in the evening.
Mon Dec 19: Pleasant but foggy. Not unusual occurred.

Tue Dec 20: Windy but otherwise pleasant. Chris Paulson made us a call. Splitting up roots & downtown in the P.M.
Wed Dec 21: One of the finest days of the winter. Working at roots some. Made a table leaf & went down town. Edna Whitney here to supper. Grant came over and staid all night.
Thu Dec 22: Rainy day. Grant went home and Ida went to Bow. Self reading and keeping house.
Fri Dec 23: At home all day. Took dinner downtown. Rainy day.
Sat Dec 24: No rain but clowdy. Went to Whitney and from there with Frank to Wilson's where we all went and had a nice Christmas tree in the eve.
Sun Dec 25: Christmas. At Wilsons all day and enjoyed a very pleasant Christmas although the weather was damp & misty.
Mon Dec 26: Franks folks went home. Grants also and I came to A but Ida remained to help Pearl. Rainy day. Came to Grants in the Dutchess.
Tue Dec 27: Cool & clowdy & soe rain towards night. At home reading most of the day. Down to K. & R. some and took dinner at the G. west.
Wed Dec 28: Clowdy but no rain. Ida came home at 12.40.
Thu Dec 29: Clowdy & strong S.E. wind. Ed Byron & Russell in town. Ida went to Whitney to night. Self home alone reading.
Fri Dec 30: Cool S.W. wind all day. Ida in Padilla. Self batching. Mr Taylor of LaC called this eve.
Sat Dec 31: Cool & blustering some snow. Went to Padilla. Met Dr. Palmer there also Mr Atkins.
Sun Jan 01: Frost 30°. Clowdy & cold. Came to A. on the noon train. Palmer & Atkins went home at 11.15. Ida at Padilla with a cold.
Mon Jan 02: Snow 1 inch this A.M. Snowing lightly most of the day. Melting as it came. Ida did not come home to day is still on the ranch. Self reading. Sent a letter to the Argus.
Tue Jan 03: Warmer, misty all day & rain last night. Down town & settled bills. Ida in Padilla.
Wed Jan 04: No rain and rather pleasant. Ida came home to day at 12.30. Mr Taylor here to see me.
Thu Jan 05: Pleasant & warm. Mr Taylor here again. Working at the alley grade & wheeling dirt down in front of the house by the walk. Bot a shovel & got the pick & hoe(?).
Fri Jan 06: Dark & clowdy. Wheeling dirt, most of the day.
Sat Jan 07: Nice day, but cool south wind towards night. Wheeling dirt in the A.M. down town in the P.M. Mrs Bal & Mrs Bradley here this P.M. for a call.
Sun Jan 08: Stormy day. Reading "City of Delight" went after the mail & that's all.
