Fri Dec 28: Art plowed two hours then went to get Burger. Killed the hogs in the P.M. Rainy some in the P.M.
Sat Dec 29: Art plowed in the A.M. & helped the butcher and took him home in the evening. Cool south wind.
Sun Dec 30: Rain & Snow. The "La C." went out with Byron's hay this A.M. & Frank & Grant came in with the launch. At home all day. Rain & snow but the snow melted as it fell.
Mon Dec 31: Mercury 28. Art working for Mr Peth & took a load of goods to LaConner for him. Peth moving to Seattle. Pearl & John here this P.M. and to night. Had a watch meeting party here to night. Some young people from Bay View. Thus endeth 1906.

Tue Jan 01: Cold mercury at 28° and not thawing much all day. Frank had a boom of logs broken open at the draw bridge last night and the logs went adrift. Went with Grant & Art over to the draw to see about it and walked back. Grant went on to LaC. in his boat. Mercury at 23° at 9 P.M. Stacey boys here.
Wed Jan 02: Mercury 24°. Ground frozen quite hard. Art hauling dirt to fill the low place in the east "40" where we put the new ditch. Self doing chores, cutting wood & working on pioneer books.
Thu Jan 03: Heavy wind this A.M. Art hauling dirt. Self choring. Went to B.V. for oil & worked on Pioneer books. Everett Wallace here yesterday & to day.
Fri Jan 04: Art working on the ditch. Snowing a good part of the day. Self went to church roll call meeting. Frank, Lee & Grant monkeying with the lost logs all this week. [margin: Mercury 26° at 9 P.M.]
Sat Jan 05: Mercury 18° this A.M. Snow 1 inch deep. Self & Art working on the ditch & finished covering it. Brot the mares up from the lower field & fed them for the first time this winer. They are all fat. Temp 25° at 9 P.M.

Sun Feb 03: T. 24°. Cold all day & snow snow. Art went to Anacortes to see Mr. Best. Carrie & I went to LaC to church and to Carters to dinner. Geo & Dick Peth & Miss Delauble here for a call. Art & Fred went to Bay View and got Grants boat. It is in bad shape.
Mon Feb 04: Temp 26°. Snow storm in session. It looks as though winter had set in for good. Art helping Ball (Amos) load oats on Str. Fidalgo. In the P.M. took the engine out of Grant's boat. Fred helped some. It began raining in the eve.
Tue Feb 05: The Fidalgo went out this A.M. with Peth's oats. Art helped him. Finished loading. Rain through the night some & to day. Strong south wind and the snow gone at 10 A.M. We hung Grants boat up in the P.M. with horse & blocks.
Wed Feb 06: Self went to Mt Vernon to pay taxes. Art went to LaC. Miss Smith & Carrie went up to Pearl's.

Sat Jun 01: Warm & dry. Self choring. Art in Seattle. Weather dry, timothy heading out very short.
Sun Jun 02: Went to LaC in the A.M. & to Bay View to hear Mr Abbott in the P.M. He gave a fine address to a large crowd. Warm & dry. Art arrived from Seattle this evening.
Mon Jun 03: Still drying up. I went across the Whitney field and unless it rain any soon. I don't think it will make 10 sks per acre. I judge the new meadow good for from 2 1/2 to 3 tons /acre. Art working for Peth.
Tue Jun 04: Went with Tillinghast to Rockport and staid all night. Clowdy but no rain. Art working on the ditch.
Wed Jun 05: Cleared off with out rain. Came home from Rockport, arrived at 4 P.M. Art working on the ditch. Miss McGonagle came this eve.
Thu Jun 06: Still dry with no sign of rain. Cultivated & hoed the garden in the A.M. and worked on the ditch in the P.M.
Fri Jun 07: No sign of rain. Everything indicates the smallest oat crop for the last ten years and hay also. Working at the ditch in the pasture.
Sat Jun 08: Art working on the ditch. Self choring in the A.M. & went to LaC in the P.M. Threatening rain but all blew away as usual. The grain holding out well for such dry weather.
Sun Jun 09: Pearl's birth day. John & Pearl also Frank and Nettie here. Clowdy & raining slowly in the eve.
Mon Jun 10: Rained 1/4 inch last night. Art in Edison to day. Did not come home last night. Self doing chores & planted sweet peas & nasturtiums.
Tue Jun 11: Bar. 29.50. Another nice rain this A.M. about 1/4 in again. This will help the oats but they need as much more. Had another shower about noon. think we have had about 5/8 of an inch and need an inch more. Art working on the ditch all day.
Wed Jun 12: Still clowdy with south wind. Art walking at the ditch in the A.M. and loading the scow for dyke in the P.M. Got a lb of sugar or sack rather. Had a letter from Ida this A.M. All signs for rain fail. We need an inch more.

Sat Jun 15: Kathleen Breazeale died. Sold 1000 sks at $25.00. Self in LaC till 3.30 P.M. staid last night at Wright's. Art unloaded the scow and cut thistles.
Sun Jun 16: Went to B.V. to church and to League in the eve. Bob Barr & the Osborn girls here this P.M. Grant home.
Mon Jun 17: Art helping Amos Ball bale hay. Clear and drying weather. Stubble oats need more rain. "June" had a colt and the young heifer had a calf Friday, heifer calf. Mowed the lawn. Flushed the sewer and done other chores.
Tue Jun 18: Art helping Callahan bale straw. Selt went to the Assoication at Sumas. Tillinghasts also.

Sun Sep 15: Trouble with the crew at Peth's and several quit, but they got to going at nine A.M., but soon had to quit for rain. The outlook is poor for grain that is out. Mrs Will Dunlap buried to day.
Mon Sep 16: Windy & showery in the P.M. No threshing. Art & Clapper hauling in straw for bedding, three loads. Self sowing timothy seed till 3.30.
Tue Sep 17: Art & Clapper hauled a load of straw and Art cleaning up around the stack the rest of the day. Self finished sowing timothy seed.
Wed Sep 18: No rain. Hutchison did not come back so I had to run the engine to thresh 7 hours at Peths.
Thu Sep 19: No rain. Threshing at Peths. Self engineer A.M. & John Jenne in the P.M. Hutchison came but I settled up with him & he went back to Anacortes.

Sharp went home.

Fri Nov 08: Self & C hauling stack bottom & straw around the new stack. Ida & Grant went to town yesterday.
Sat Nov 09: Light frost. Finished the straw & made a fence around the straw stack. Clear & pleasant. Took two loads of straw out to the dyke.
Sun Nov 10: Fine day & light frost. At home. Mrs Scott & the Derr's here to day.
Mon Nov 11: Light frost & pleasant. Mr Esterling here to fix the piano. Stitt had 3024 lbs hay. Clapper at Mt Vernon. First load 3039 6063.
Tue Nov 12: Clapper took his stuff home. Self went to town, Miss Smith & Grant also. Grant started for Seattle to school. Miss Smith at Netties. Pleasant day roads fine. Bank situation no better. Got a 30 day dft for my oats for $2173.52 on Albers Bros, Seattle.
Wed Nov 13: Miss Nelson went to town & got Miss Smith. Self choring. Clowdy & misty, but not much rain.
Thu Nov 14: May Bradley died this A.M. & we also heard that Peter Regenwetter, Jr had died in Ohio. Ida & Miss Smith went to Pearl's. Self, Fred & Otto went down to the dyke on a tour of inspection. Self fixing dyke a little & hauled some posts for it. Weather clowdy some but pleasant for now.
Fri Nov 15: Ida & self went to May Bradley's funeral, Pearl also. Came home on the 6.29 train and it rained some this eve.
Sat Nov 16: Pleasant. Doing chores. Went to the Lutheran Fair at B.V. in the eve.
Sun Nov 17: Rain some last night. Pleasant to day. Self & Ida went to LaC to church. Ida staid at Nettie's.
Mon Nov 18: Miss Smith went to town & Ida came home with her. Self went to town on wheel. Showery & windy.
Tue Nov 19: Windy & rainy. Not doing much but chores.
Wed Nov 20: Ditto yesterday. Miss Smith left for Seattle. Peths building a concrete water tank.
Thu Nov 21: Weather stormy. Nothing much to record.
Fri Nov 22: Showery & windy. Self & Ida went to town. Self went to Peter Regenwetter's funeral. Roads quite muddy. Financial trouble not any better. Prices of all farm produce falling.
Sat Nov 23: Stormy most all day. Doing chores and cleaned out the drinking water tank. Rec'd a letter from George.
Sun Nov 24: At home all day. Stormy part of the day.
Mon Nov 25: Same kind of weather, windy & rainy. Cudjo rain away yesterday.
Tue Nov 26: Pleasant. Smith getting straw for Miss Stearns and we hauled a load of wet straw down to Cultis dam. The dog howled all day.
Wed Nov 27: Stormy again. Took another small load of straw down to day. The dog away again. Grant came home from Seattle.

Thu Nov 28: Thanksgiving. Stormy & windy. Frank & Nettie here to day to dinner. Grant also. Warm & wet.
Fri Nov 29: Dr. Palmer came last night. John Ellis here and I paid him for 10 cords each ditch timber and stove wood. Don & Grant hunting. Self making a record case for Carters. Ida & Miss Nelson went to B.V.
Sat Nov 30: Warm. Windy & clowdy. Dr. Ostrum & Mr Calvert came last night and they were all hunting to day. Self finished the record case. Everett Wallace here to day.

Sun Dec 01: Warm & pleasant. The hunters here yet, but went home this eve & Grant with them. John & Pearl here to day. John & self went with Fred over to see the dredger.
Mon Dec 02: Stitt has had hay to date 9146 lbs hay. Pleasant. Doing chores and went down and helped unload the scow. Fred & his men fixing dyke.
Tue Dec 03: Ditto yesterday. Very warm for Dec.
Wed Dec 04: Stormy day and the highest tide for the year so far. Ida & Miss N. went to the B. fair & staid all night.
Thu Dec 05: Self alone last night. Working on Pioneer books & in the P.M. Helping W Peth get a load of brush for the dyke. The folks came home.
Fri Dec 06: No rain. Tides medium. On the dyke fixing brush one hour. Ethel VanFleet here. Stitt got 2170 lbs of hay. Total 12310.
Sat Dec 07: Cold north wind & some rain this A.M. Pearl not well and I took Ida down there. Got home at 5 P.M.
Sun Dec 08: Cold this A.M. & froze a little. East wind. Self went to B.V. to church. Mr & Mrs Bessner here this P.M. to see the piano.
Mon Dec 09: Dug the dahlias & gladiolas & in the P.M. cleaned out the stove pipe & chimney.
Tue Dec 10: Highest tide this year so far. 10 inches short of the big ones of '86 and '95. Took dinner at Netties.
Wed Dec 11: Rainy last night & some to day & to night. Doing chores & made a case for Phono records.
Thu Dec 12: Another good tide. Finished the case & put it up also a shelf for the phonograph. Ida still at Wilson's & Pearl getting better. Hard times continue. No markets for anything & nothing doing. Ben Jorgenson got a load 14 lbs of hay for Stitt.
Fri Dec 13: Choring. Expected to have a high tide but it calmed down.
Sat Dec 14: Pleasant. Fooling with the Launch some. Miss Nelson went after Ida. Mowed the lawn.
Sun Dec 15: Self went to LaC to church & to Nettie's to dinner. Frost 30°.
Mon Dec 16: Frost 28°. Doing chores & put up the dining room stove. Ground frozen pretty hard.

Tue Dec 17: Frost 32°. Doing chores & tried to run the Launch but did not make it. The Fidalgo here for Fred's hay & straw & took ten tons & Grant's straw. Self tallying in the eve.
Wed Dec 18: Frost 32. Ida & Miss N. went to town. Sold Tholstrup a cow and a steer for $80.00. Barr boys began loading a car for Wilson at $180.00. Stitt got a load of hay yesterday & one to day. Made the boat run for a while but it got tired. Crumrine sold his oats to day at $25.00. Bessner bot a piano yesterday.
Thu Dec 19: Weather pleasant. Doing chores & finished loading the car. Got in 18 tons.
Fri Dec 20: Strong south wind. Nothing new to record.
Sat Dec 21: Went to town. Pleasant. Grant came home this eve. Byron in Seattle.
Sun Dec 22: At home all day. Nothing new occurred. Finished "Miss Petticoats".
Mon Dec 23: Stormy day. Grant & self went to B.V. with "Sylph" & got the Christmas tree. Folks fixing up for the tree. Wind turned wet in the eve.
Tue Dec 24: Pleasant. Self went to town for Nettie. John's folks & Franks, Lee & Miss Smith here to Christmas tree. Paid Goldsmith bill.
Wed Dec 25: Christmas. Santa arrived on time. Stormy day. Bar. at 29.30. A little lower then I ever saw it. Had a fine dinner of turkey, chicken, &c. All in the house initiating visit today.
Thu Dec 26: The folks all went home except Nettie who was sick all day yesterday & to day. Rained a little but generally pleasant.
Fri Dec 27: Cold & windy. Ida sick abed with a cold. Nettie here yet. Very disagreeable day.
Sat Dec 28: Went to town & took Nettie home. Clowdy & rainy. Roads wet & rough. Month matters not improving any. Hay & oats at a stand still. Rec'd check for the Wilson hay. Ida abed & poorly with Legrippe.
Sun Dec 29: Frost 32°. At home all day. Ida in bed with her cold. Pleasant part of the day & no rain.
Mon Dec 30: Frost 32°. Ida still in bed. Clowdy & windy but no rain. Grant here yet. Went to B.V. & up to Fred's. Walter Peth here & paid his threshing bill.
Tue Dec 31: Rainy by spells. Ida still in bed with bad cold. Reading "House of Mirth". Thus endeth 1907, but the panic is no ended. It is to be continued in our next. Grant & Fred hunting.
