Sun Dec 02: All stayed at home. Whitney was up a little while in the A.M. to see Edgar's boil. It was pretty bad last eve, but is some better today, not swollen as much as common. Baby Pearl had her first short dreses on today. [margin: Windy and rainy.]
Mon Dec 03: Worked on the kitchen. The boil almost well. [margin: High winds and rain last night. Very nice day.]

Mon Dec 31: Papa chopping wood down at the camp. I went down to Padilla in the P.M. [margin: Thermometer 22° last night.]
Tue Jan 01: Papa, Aunt Lou and myself went down to the camp this morning and got some wood. Took our dinner in the woods by a fire. Came home about 1/2 past 2 o'clock had a very pleasant time. [margin: Very pleasant.]
Wed Jan 02: Papa still cutting wood at the camp. Whitney's men left today. [margin: Pleasant.]
Thu Jan 03: Papa cutting down trees as usual. [margin: The hen has laid 21 eggs.]
Fri Jan 04: Edgar filed saws in the A.M. made windowframes in the P.M. Whitney and Mother went to LaConner in the P.M. Aunt Lou and Eva were here today.
Sat Jan 05: Edgar working on the kitchen. Aunt Lou came up again this morn to help with the work while mother was away. W came home at noon. Dr. Maggs with him.
Sun Jan 06: All stayed at home until late in the P.M. then went down to Whitney's and spent part of the eve. [margin: Very pretty day.]
Mon Jan 07: Edgar went to the woods today back of the White house. [margin: Andis(??) also rain.]
Tue Jan 08: Trying to rain. Edgar and I in pursuit of water. Fearing the rain might blow over. Wet up the slough towards Balls but the tide being too high did not get any. He and Alfie then went down to the siwash camp and got back wood and water. [margin: Blowing quite hard and rain's a very little in showers E made a pen for the pig.]
Wed Jan 09: Edgar finished the pen. In the A.M. cut wood and tinkered around in the P.M. Baby Pearl is 7 months old today. [margin: Raining in showers.]
Thu Jan 10: Edgar worked in the woods until noon, came home in account of the rain. Hanson brought the new boat today. [margin: Rains very hard. Blow last night.]
Fri Jan 11: Edgar worked in the wharf making steps and &c. Also made me a pair of oars. Went down to the beach for wood. [margin: Pleasant.]
Sat Jan 12: Edgar working in the wharf in the A.M. making doors for the safe in the P.M. [margin: Pleasant.]
Sun Jan 13: All stayed at home. Eva, Julia & Harry called in the A.M. Mother went up to Millers. [margin: Very pleasant.]
