Notes

• Of the mineral identification properties we considered, cleavage is the most important one to come to grips with.

  • Why?

• Mineral color can be trick us - why? What can cause variation in mineral color?

  • Nonetheless, we will be confident in the pink/salmon color of the mineral orthoclase feldspar (or other names are → Potassium Feldspar, or K-feldspar).

• What are mineral names we have explicitly looked at so far? (think back to the Discussion meeting!)

  • What are their properties?

• Take a look at the questions at the end of the chapter - there are multiple choice questions, and probably some other types as well.

• Take the CRQ on this chapter again when it opens up for "Study Attempts"
