This map is loosely based on the little village of Gavrus, France in 1944.

On June 29th, 1944 Montgomery's Operation Epsom was in full swing and the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders of the 15th (Scottish) Division
found themselves in the exposed position of defending Gavrus from fierce German counterattacks. Tanks and panzergrenadiers of the
10th SS began to penetrate the defenders and cut off small groups, gradually weakening their positions. Nonetheless, with Piats
and 6-pounders, the Argylls made a superb stand keeping Panthers and MkIV's at bay. Though the Argylls later withdrew to
positions on the Odon River, just beyond Gavrus (and ultimately out of the "Scottish Corridor"), the Germans were forced to divert
and commit a large offensive force to the "Scottish Corridor" that suffered notable casualties, diminishing its offensive capabilities. Battles like
Gavrus demonstrated that the Germans would not be able to easily beat back the allies, even with the fresh SS armored divisions that had just arrived in the vicinity of Caen.
Montgomery's Operation Epsom failed in its objectives, but it did indirectly succeed in taking the wind out of a potent German force that had assembled in a desperate effort to drive the allies
back to the beaches.

As for the map... hopefully you won't find any significant problems. If you do, chalk it up to rookie mapmaking.
Hopefully my next one will be better. Special thanks go to Jeff Duquette and Oxcart for their guidance at critical points
in the map's creation.
