Yeah... I'm sure there are a ton of variations, but this is how I've
seen it played before.

you need 5 six-sided dice and some paper and a pen to keep score.

After deciding who will role first, game play consists of all players
each taking turns in a clockwise order until a player reaches or passes
10,000 points, with a bong hit every time you accumulate 1000 points.

Each turn starts with the player rolling all five dice, the person then
decides which dice to "keep", and rerolls the remaining. Scoring is as
follows:

one 1: 100 points [two 1s: 200 points]
one 5: 50 points [two 5s: 100 points]
three 1s: 1000 points [four 1s 2000 points, five ones 3000 points]
three 2s: 200 points [four 2s 400 points, five 2s 600 points]
three 3s: 300 points [four 3s 600 points, five 3s 900 points]
three 4s: 400 points [four 4s 800 points, five 4s 1200 points]
three 5s: 500 points [four 5s 1000 points, five 5s 1500 points]
three 6s: 600 points [four 6s 1200 points, five 6s 1800 points]
none of the above: ZONK!

after the first roll of your turn, decide which out of the five dice
you want to keep (you want to keep the most points obviously), then
re-roll the remaining to try and get more points. [NOTE: During any
part of your roll, you can pass the dice and record your points] If you
ZONK out during any part of the turn, you LOSE all your points for
that turn and you pass the dice. If you manage to use up all five dice
for scoring combinations, you can then re-roll all of them as many times
as you have the guts to... until you decide to stop, or till you ZONK.

Misc rules:
if you drop the dice or they fly off the table, you lose your turn and
pass the dice.

you are lucky enough to roll ALL FIVE dice 5 times in one turn, you
get a bong hit. [if you dont ZONK on the last roll that is]

free bong hit if you reach 5150 or 6900 on the nose.
[for a total of 12 possible bong hits for the lucky winner!]

Example play:

game starts, there are two players. Player 1 goes first.

Player 1 rolls all five dice and gets 4 3 2 5 5. Player 1 keeps the two
5s and re-rolls the remaining three. [100 points sofar]. On this roll
Player 1 gets 1 3 4 and keeps the 1 [200 points total], then rerolls the
remaining two dice and gets 5 2. Player 1 keeps the 5, which combine with
the two 5s previously rolled this turn [600 points] and decides to pass
the dice to Player 2.

Player 2 rolls all five dice and gets 3 4 3 3 5. Player 2 keeps the three
3s and the 5 [350 points] and re-rolls the remaining 1 die. Player 2 gets
a 4 on this roll and ZONKS out, thus getting 0 points for this turn.

and so on....
