equipment is a Sony VAIO notebook PCG-XG750 connected to a
Sound Designs USBPre with Schoep CMC64ST's in the sky, for portable field
recordings. For Stealth recordings the Sony DA-8 DAT w/
an AT822 mic, or homemade bineurals are used. At home the
Sony DTC-670 DAT is used for mixdowns, dubs, and
playback. The Sony VAIO computer has SCMS
set at (00), however , both Sony DAT decks have SCMS set at
(11).
I can also do analog dubs with a Nakamichi BS- 100 (play deck), and a Nakamichi CR3-A (record deck). A Sentrex 10 band, 30Hz-16KHz EQ can be used upon request. I will never use Dolby B, or C on an analog tape. Dolby S only with an analog master whose source is a mic. Shelving EQ systems like Dolby B and C, consistently used throughout generations can totally wipe 4KHz and up, causing major high end loss, and combined with hot levels, even more noise (hiss). Likewise I will not use effects, filters, gates or noise reduction on Digital files.I am a stickler for DAO, please see my digital files standard. I will not trade in the Mp3 format. Most recordings are 16 bit, but as more people trade in 24 bit flac I also will be changing. However for now, unless I get a request at the show for 24 bit, I still master at 16 bit 44.1kHz. Reel Preference: Quantegy (Apex) Grand Master Platinum GP9 |
