How do I get a patch when recording a live show ?

First, be patient and polite. Second, you need a standard Coax digital input on your machine. Some portables have them, some do not and some require special adapters. So few units use Toslink that in order to ensure compatibility, you need to go Coax. The other option is to use an analoque cable to get an analoque patch. This is not as good as a digital patch, as every machine adds it own distortion and noise to the signal. To do this, use the same cabling you would use to connect your machine to your stereo or a soundboard.
