Down with Disease
From: Chris Corsale (ccorsale@cosi.stockton.edu)
Mike starts, then Trey comes in with a D#9 chord on beats 2 and 4.
he does the chords for 3 measures and then slides from an F chord to a G.
So you do the three hits on D#9, then F to G. Lets call this part I.
ARRANGEMENT:
Part I twice, then let Mike do his few measures, then kick in with part I
one mre time before cutting to a verse:
A----(let chord ring, pray for sustain)
part I twice
A----(same as above)
part I one and a half times; second tome through, don't play the F/G,
instead, take the D#9 chord, and play, on the repeated line:
 D#9 C##9 C7
"dancing on my lawn"
Chorus:
A / A / G / D / G / D / G / C 2x
"stop stop..."part: A / A / G / D 2x
Do another verse, then another chorus, and another "stop" part. then
there's a guitar solo over:
C / D / C / D / C / D / E / E 2X
Trey ends the solo with a lingering, jimi hendrix-sounding note.
Mike repeats the intro in the key of E instead of D, and you hit an
E#9 chord to cut it off.
Cut to the chorus, and a stop part. continue the stop part, and Trey's
line at the end goes like this:

1
                                                        /
||-------------------------------||--------14--15-15-15-15-14------17-(19)-17-||

If I Could
From: Chris Corsale (ccorsale@cosi.stockton.edu)

The chord at the beginning of the song is exactly the same fingering as an open C chord, but moved up two frets. leave the 1st and 3rd strings open.

So, low to high, your notes should be: (6th string not played) D, F#, G, D, E. here's the picking style:

|-----------0---------------------------
|--------------3---------3--------------
|--------0------------0-----------------
|-----4------------4--------------------
|--5------------------------------------
|---------------------------------------

This is now (as i love to call it) "part I".

Song starts with part I 4X.

The verse is as follows:

G / B7 / C / G / G / F / C / part I 4X

Go through this twice. the second time around, though, instead of playing part I, play this progression:

D / A / C /

Then part II, which follows:

          C B A D
|----------------------------------------------------------
|-----------------1------------1----------1----------3-----
|--------------0------------0-----------0---------0-----0--
|-----------2------------0-----------0---------0-----------
|--0--2--3------------2-----------0------------------------
|----------------------------------------------------------

Now we're ready for the chorus!

G / C / G / C / Bm / C /part I (2X), then part II (once).

Then there's another verse and another chorus. but at the end of this second chorus, instead of playing part I, cut right to

D/A/C/G (2X)

then

D/A/C/C/Am/Am

then the chorus part (4X). The last time around, go to

D/A/C/G (3X)

Then a measure of A, then part II, and end on a C chord.

The verse chords are like so:

  F G C F F
swinging on a life line, fraying bits of twine

    F G C F C/E
entangled in the remnants of the knot i left behind

and asking you to help me make it finally unwind

Before the chorus, he hits a Bb chord, then staccato chords, Bb and G/B. Here are the fingerings:

    Bb G/B
|--------------------|
|-3---3------3---3---|
|-3---3------0---0---|
|-3---3------0---0---|
|-1---1------2---2---|

The chorus goes like this:

     C Bb F
but god never listens

(insert the Bb and G staccato chords here)

           C
to what i say

Repeat this, the second time going to an Am instead of C on the word "say"

...Am Bb Am Bb C
      so very, so very hard

                     G F (cut to intro)
and you don't get a refund if you overpray

Sample in a Jar
From: Chris Corsale (ccorsale@cosi.stockton.edu)
From: Jim Vegeais (vegeais@aspentec.com)

Trey starts the song with:

   A C G D A E Em D
                   H
|----------------------------------------------|

|--9---9---7---7--------------6---4---4----2---|
|-11--10---9---7-----7---7----7---6---5----4---|
|----------------7-9---9-----------------------|
|----------------------------------------------|

This is done twice as an intro, then there's a drum break, and then me progression is used fo the verses. it's played two more times as a verse.

The chorus goes like this:

A D E D played 4X

Then play the verse progression once (w. distortion), then 2 more times as the second verse. then there's another chorus.

The break is:

C D A G C D E (let the E chord hang for a while)

During that hanging E, trey does a little fill like this:

    H P H P H P H P H P H
|--------------------------|
|-8-9-8-9-8-9-8-9-8-9-8-9--|
|-7-9-7-9-7-9-7-9-7-9-7-9--|
|--------------------------|
|--------------------------|
|--------------------------|

Then the chorus part is played two more times. There's a solo over the verse progression, and the song ends on a big A chord.

Breakdown:

Chorus:

F C G G F C D D
F C G G F C A7 D D D

jam on G for a while.

verse 2 = only the first half of verse 1.
That crazy fill again, the D/C/B/A thing twice, then a chorus.

Jam on G again under the banjo solo.

Verse 3 is the same as verse 2.

Cut to "heeeeere's a place of elegance" part:

D C F F G C F F 4X, last time, cut to chorus.

One extra chorus, with D/C/B/A at the end.

It ends up with some nutso "poor heart" type ending that i'm not even going to TRY to transcribe.

First of all, go dust off your wah-wah pedal.

INTRO/VERSE PART (they're pretty interchangeable)

|-------12---------12---|-------------|
|-----------------------|--5----7-----|
|-------9----------9----|--6----7-----|
|-----------------------|--7----7-----|
|-----------------------|-------------|

You can take your preference from these two, or come up with tons of different variations, lots of different stuff is played all over the place. Because of that, i'm not going to differentiate between intro and verse, since they're both the same to you as a guitarist. the only difference is whether there's singing or not.

The riff is played 8X to start with, then there's a chorus:

B/B/A/A

And back into the riff (which is then played 6 times), then another chorus, and the riff 6 times. then the chorus 3X in a row, followed by the riff 2X.

then there's a break:

C#m7/D9 4X (see chord voicings below)

then the chorus again 3X, then th riff just goes till the end ot the vocal jam.

        C#m7 D9
