ABOUT THIS SHOW DATABASE:

The accompanying MDB file is a Microsoft Access 2.0
database. This file was prepared by The Duke of Prunes
<dukeoprunz@ibm.net> in an appropriate format for
importing into TapeTracker for Windows. PLEASE SEND ANY
*CHANGES* OR *ADDITIONS* TO THE EMAIL ADDRESS NOTED
ABOVE.

The basis of this database is Jon Naurin's FZShows
v. 4.0 document. It has been imported to TapeTracker
with his blessing. Jon's introduction to the document
reads as follows:

-----------------------------------------------------
This is a list of the known recorded Frank Zappa
concerts between 1963 and 1997. It should be pointed
out that this list does not at all represent my own
tape collection, but if you're interested in the
whereabouts of a certain tape, feel free to ask me, and
I might point you in the right direction. A large
share of the information in this document has been
provided by some of my extremely helpful trading
friends, none of whom can be thanked enough. Some
setlists are taken from the "Touring can make you crazy"
series (by Axel Wnsch) in the nice fanzine "T'Mershi
Duween". Many of the dates and venues from the years
1966-1971 are very uncertain, and the facts from this
period are confusing and contradictary. If you have
any corrections that you're sure about - please let me
know!

The document is by no means complete, and any additions
and corrections are more than welcome. Setlists, sound
comments, timings or anal retentive details - anything!
Also if you have any further questions about the
document or about particular recordings, don't hesitate
to email me!

The sound is graded with A, B & C often with a plus or
a minus. In my own grading system, they mean something
like:

A+ About as good as an official release, probably
       mixed for radio etc.
A Perfect audience or low-gen soundboard recording.
A- Very enjoyable listening.
B+ Quite good audience, or somewhat flawed
       soundboard recording.
B Acceptable sound.
B-/C+ Might be irritating
C/C- Not recommended

Important note: These gradings are made by 3-4 different
persons, whose ideas of what is good sound might vary a
bit. Thus they should be taken with a grain of salt, so
you don't get disappointed when you get a A- recording
that sounds C+ in your ears. The sound does vary a lot
depending on which generation the copy is, and of course
there exist different recordings of the same show. The
grading always represents the best known (to me) copy in
circulation.

If you want to read more about a particular tour or
band, I advice you to visit Jason "Foggy" Gossard's
excellent "We're only in it for the touring" pages.
Just point your browser at http://ourworld.compuserve.
com/homepages/turtlestew/wereonly.htm

Finally, don't go searching for the bootlegs mentioned
- go find people to trade tapes with! Funnier, cheaper,
and you don't support the bootlegging assholes.
