A Thomas (Hugh) Gallagher Quote Michael was a total Irishman, blindly prejudiced, bigoted of one track mind and rather uneducated, slightly neurotic, ungrateful and a fool to himself. He was clean, fastidious and much sought after in his trade of plasters labourer which he mainly followed. He could also mix paste and pastries like nobody's business. He was a regular at the Hall Inn and only drank Whiskey. In 1910 he was paid compensation and bought tickets for emigration to the USA departing on April 14th. On the 12th and 13th parties were held. Drinking the popular drink RAM TAM, a mixture of Guiness and Beer, the theme was, 'we will have one more before we leave today', funds quickly ran out and the tickets were pushed over the Parker's Arm bar at ridiculous prices until all the steamship tickets were pledged. Came the wailing and recriminations the next day. |
