Born in the Lake District, Rupert Eden grew up on hill sheep farms in Argyll, the Yorkshire Dales and the Alentejo which strongly influenced his storytelling and photography style. Rupert studied Philosophy, Sociology and Hispanic Studies at Stirling and then Liverpool University but landed a job as a reporter before graduating. He ended up spending over ten years working as a stringer for diverse clients including Knight Ridder, Reuters, FT Business, Platt’s and Dow Jones moving to Lisbon, London, Rome, Barcelona, Madrid, Buenos Aires, Lima and Seville before becoming a Freelance travel writer, Fixer, location scout, photographer and occasional videographer based in Lisbon.

As well as regularly contributing features to architecture, design, lifestyle and travel magazines and corporate web sites, he has provided photography, writing and translation work for dozens of cook books, city guides and web sites for a diverse mix of clients including the BBC, Porter & Sail, Time Out, The Guardian, Momondo, US Airways, Four Seasons, Wallpaper, Monocle, Condé Nast and The New York Times.

He currently travels all over Europe covering stories ranging from interior design, architecture, gastronomy, surf and eco resorts as well as some of the world’s hottest hotels and wineries.
